Following the retirement of the current postholder, Harewood Infant School is seeking to appoint a committed, hardworking and skilled caretaker to join our friendly staff team.

 

Our ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate practical skill alongside an ability to self-motivate and prioritise. We need a caretaker with a real desire to ensure that our school remains a clean, safe and attractive environment for our children. We are particularly keen to hear from people who have a range of trade skills (plumbers, electricians, carpenters, for example) although specific interest or expertise in one of these areas is also of interest to us.

 

The successful candidate will have key holding and security responsibilities as well as undertaking minor repairs of the school premises. Other areas of responsibility include a weekly health and safety check of the site and the weekly testing of the water system, emergency lighting and fire alarm.

 

The contract will be for 37 hours each week and there can be some flexibility about when these hours are worked; this can be discussed prior to application or at interview. The holiday entitlement is 24.5 days a year rising to 29.5 days after 5 years of continuous service. The successful candidate will be required to start by 1st September 2026 although an earlier start may be possible.

The Role

-Ensuring the school buildings and grounds are safe, secure, and maintained to a high standard

- Carrying out routine maintenance, basic repairs and DIY tasks.

- Managing site security, including opening and locking up the school.

- Monitoring heating, lighting, and energy usage.

- Supporting health and safety compliance across the site.

- Working with the cleaning team to ensure standards are met.

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, nurturing and committed 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join our happy, dedicated team.

This post is linked to a Reception-aged child with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and is therefore fixed term for the duration of the child’s attendance at our school. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the child’s communication, social interaction, emotional development, independence and access to learning.

We are looking for someone who:

·         Has experience of supporting children with additional needs, particularly speech, language and communication difficulties.

·        Can build warm, trusting and secure relationships with young children.

·        Has patience, empathy and a calm, nurturing approach.

·        Can adapt learning activities to motivate and engage children through their interests.

·        Is able to work closely with teachers, parents and external professionals to implement EHCP provision.

·        Is proactive, flexible and committed to ensuring every child achieves their potential.

·         Works effectively as part of a team and contributes positively to the wider life of the school.
