Harewood Infant School is a large and successful, infant school in Tuffley. We currently have five mixed Reception and Year 1 classes and three Year 2 classes. We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, organised and inspiring teacher to join our Year 2 team. The successful candidate will be committed to achieving high standards of attainment and behaviour, will be proactive, creative and flexible in their approach and will have the ability to understand and adapt provision for the needs of all children.

This is a full time maternity cover post starting from September 1st 2026 until the end of February 2027 (or 4 weeks' notice linked to maternity leave.) However, there may be a possibility of ongoing work which could be part time in the first instance.

Following the retirement of the current postholder, Harewood Infant School is seeking to appoint a committed, hardworking and skilled caretaker to join our friendly staff team.
Our ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate practical skill alongside an ability to self-motivate and prioritise. We need a caretaker with a real desire to ensure that our school remains a clean, safe and attractive environment for our children. We are particularly keen to hear from people who have a range of trade skills (plumbers, electricians, carpenters, for example) although specific interest or expertise in one of these areas is also of interest to us.
The successful candidate will have key holding and security responsibilities as well as undertaking minor repairs of the school premises. Other areas of responsibility include a weekly health and safety check of the site and the weekly testing of the water system, emergency lighting and fire alarm.
The contract will be for 37 hours each week and there can be some flexibility about when these hours are worked; this can be discussed prior to application or at interview. The holiday entitlement is 24.5 days a year rising to 29.5 days after 5 years of continuous service. The successful candidate will be required to start by 1st September 2026 although an earlier start may be possible.

The Role
-Ensuring the school buildings and grounds are safe, secure, and maintained to a high standard
- Carrying out routine maintenance, basic repairs and DIY tasks.
- Managing site security, including opening and locking up the school.
- Monitoring heating, lighting, and energy usage.
- Supporting health and safety compliance across the site.
- Working with the cleaning team to ensure standards are met.
